Texas Gayfeather (Liatris punctata var. mucronata), also known as Texas Blazing Star, is a Texas native perennial wildflower that is known for its tufted purple flower spikes growing up to 3 feet tall. It grows in a clumping formation and thrives in many types of soils and conditions. The perennial has a long taproot that allows it to access water that many plants can't reach making it super drought tolerant! The flowers provide a nectar source for butterflies making it a great addition to any pollinator garden.
